This itinerary is packed but balanced, covering Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, and a thrilling climb up Mount Olympus. Here’s a detailed guide with tips and tricks to make the most of your time in Greece!

Day 1: Arriving in Athens + Sunset Tour of Cape Sounion

After landing in Athens, start the trip with a visit to Cape Sounion, home to the stunning Temple of Poseidon. This ancient temple, built in 440 BC, sits dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea. It’s one of the best places in Greece to watch the sunset. Legend says King Aegeus leapt to his death here, believing his son Theseus had perished. The golden hour paints the sky in brilliant hues of pink and orange, making it a must-see.

Pro tip: Arrive early to explore the ruins before settling in for the sunset.

Day 2: Exploring Athens – The Heart of Ancient Greece

Athens is a paradise for history lovers, with so much to uncover:

  • Acropolis & Parthenon Tour: No trip to Athens is complete without climbing the Acropolis. This ancient citadel houses the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike. Built in the 5th century BC, the Parthenon remains the most iconic structure of classical Greece. The Erechtheion, famous for its Caryatid columns, marks the legendary battle between Athena and Poseidon for the city’s patronage. Arrive early to beat the heat and crowds.
  • Brunch & Strolling Around Plaka: After the tour, enjoy brunch in Plaka, one of Athens’ oldest and most charming neighbourhoods. Its cobblestone streets and neoclassical houses create a picturesque setting.
  • Explore Monastiraki and Thissio: Lastly, Monastiraki is famous for its lively flea market and ancient ruins, while Thissio offers fantastic views of the Acropolis and a relaxed café culture.

Day 3: Day Trip to Delphi + Athenian Bar Crawl

  • Delphi Day Tour: Delphi, once the centre of the ancient world, is just a 2.5-hour drive from Athens. The famous Oracle of Delphi, a priestess known as the Pythia, delivered cryptic prophecies here. Walk through the ruins, visit the Temple of Apollo, and soak in the breathtaking mountain scenery.
  • Athenian Bar Crawl: At night, dive into Athens’ buzzing nightlife. The Psiri district is perfect for rooftop bars, live music, and craft cocktails.

Day 4: Santorini Arrival + Catamaran Cruise

  • Morning Ferry to Santorini: Hop on an early ferry from Athens to Santorini.
  • Catamaran Cruise: Firstly, explore the island’s coastline with stops at Red Beach, White Beach, and the volcanic hot springs. Santorini’s iconic caldera views exist because of a massive volcanic eruption in 1600 BC, which shaped the island’s dramatic cliffs and unique landscapes.
  • Explore Fira: The capital of Santorini, Fira, is perfect for an evening stroll with cliffside views, mesmerizing sunsets, and fantastic food.

Day 5: Oia + Santorini Wine Tour

  • Explore Oia: Next, stroll through charming alleyways, visit the windmills, and enjoy the island’s most famous sunset spots.
  • Wine Tour: Santorini’s volcanic soil produces exceptional wines, particularly those made from the Assyrtiko grape variety. A guided wine tour is a must for any wine enthusiast.
