Have you thought of embarking on a weight loss journey? I’ve never imagined, but here we are. It all started in May when I realised I was heading to Greece in just a few months and didn’t feel my best. I had gained almost 5kg during the pandemic, and while I’d stayed somewhat active, the weight just stuck around. It wasn’t just about appearance—it was about feeling good in my own skin. That’s when I decided to commit to change.
This blog is a real, honest look into my weight loss journey—the small wins, consistent routines, and mindset shifts that helped me feel stronger, more confident, and healthier before my dream trip.
A New Routine That Worked

I didn’t go on a strict diet, hire a personal trainer, or commit to a crazy 100-day shred. My weight loss journey was built around consistency and sustainability. I simply moved more and cut back on habits that weren’t serving me, like late-night snacking and too much alcohol.
Pilates remained a core part of my routine, with two to three sessions a week. But I also added a 3-month home workout plan that focused on fat loss. On top of that, I began running or going on brisk walks two to three times a week in the evenings. Surprisingly, these sessions became a wind-down ritual after work.
What I Ate: Keeping It Simple

No crazy meal plans here. I ate more mindfully (less carbohydrates) and aimed for a calorie deficit, not starvation. I paid attention to my portions and learned to stop eating when I was full. Incorporating Foodology, a Korean diet supplement, helped reduce unnecessary snacking. There are many controversies about relying on diet supplements, but I’ve decided to try based on the rave reviews back in Korea.
I didn’t cut out carbs or ban treats. I still went out to eat, enjoyed dessert, and drank coffee with milk. But I made conscious choices, and that made all the difference. Balance was the only way this weight loss journey felt achievable.
The Wins That Made It Worth It
- My jeans fit more loosely.
- I started to see muscle definition, especially around my core and arms.
- I felt noticeably calmer, stronger, and more focused.
- My posture improved, and I became more flexible.
Even though the scale didn’t show a dramatic drop, my body felt tighter and leaner. Pilates really worked from the inside out. I saw tone and shape I didn’t have in a long while—and I honestly felt good looking in the mirror again.
My Biggest Struggles
Consistency. Especially when work got busy. There were days I skipped workouts or stress-ate out of habit. But I always tried to bounce back. Reminding myself why I started this weight loss journey kept me grounded—it wasn’t about being perfect, but about doing better each week.
Body image was another hurdle. I’ve always been self-conscious, and even with visible progress, I still had moments of doubt. What helped? Focusing on how my body moved and what it could do, rather than just how it looked.
What Keeps Me Going
The countdown to Greece definitely lit a fire under me. But beyond that, I’ve discovered a rhythm that feels good—something I can stick to even after the trip. I love how I feel post-run, how energised I am after Pilates, and how much clearer my mind feels with regular movement.
My weight loss journey has never been about achieving a specific look. It’s about becoming the strongest, most present version of me, whether I’m walking through Athens or back in my everyday routine.
To anyone starting their own journey: keep it simple. Be patient. And most importantly, be kind to yourself. Progress doesn’t always show up on the scale, but it always shows up in how you feel.
